About Us

Paamul Mexico, SunriseWe would like to welcome you to our site, RV in Mexico. We have learned so much about RV travel, about Mexico, and about ourselves, that we wanted to share our experiences and those of the close friends we've made along the way.

We started our adventure in January 2001 in a 33 foot wide body motor home towing a Jeep CJ. Our intent was to travel from Oregon, through the United States, and Canada for a year or two. We had hoped that during our travels we would find a nice place to retire, hopefully with a warmer, dryer climate than western Oregon. Little did we know that we would make it as far as Tucson, Arizona before a relative lured us into making a slight detour to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. That could be a book in itself so we'll just say that along our way many people that we met recommended an RV Park located on the Caribbean. They thought it quite possibly could be the most beautiful spot for an RV Park in the country. We gathered our courage and headed out.

Bart and Bobbi in Front of their palapa in paamulIn June 2001 we arrived at Paamul, and even though summer is usually when all the Snowbirds head north, we were so happy to have this magnificent beach to ourselves that we decided to stay awhile. We quickly became friends with the folks who lived here year around and found a couple of comfortable lounge chairs on the beach in front of the dive shop. We must have spent nearly every day from 8am until 5pm in that spot. We read books, swam, drank a few refreshments and played like we were retired. Fall came and our plans were to head back to Sayulita, near Puerto Vallarta. Fortunately Bobbi made up our minds for us. She simply said to me one day "You know you're not getting me away from this water". So five years later we're still here. We came because of the water, but we really stayed because of the people!
